Nahal Way

Combat service leaves a mark.
For many soldiers, the real emotional impact begins only after they return home.
Today, there is no structured preventative system to identify and support combat soldiers once they are discharged. Too many face this transition alone.
This is where The Nahal Way steps in.

The Nahal Way is a proactive, unit-based program that reunites combat teams 6 - 12 months after discharge - the critical window when deeper emotional challenges often surface. We actively reach out to soldiers, ensuring they don’t get lost during this vulnerable period.
Participants take part in a 3-day retreat in a peaceful environment, guided by experienced mental health professionals and supported by a “Big Brother” - a fellow combat soldier who has completed the program.
The retreat combines processing of combat experiences, meaningful closure, practical mind-body coping tools, and strengthening of unit bonds in a healthy, non-military setting.

One participant shared:
“I slept better here than I’ve slept in years - better than at home.”
We identify early signs of emotional distress and continue supporting participants beyond the retreat, connecting those who need it to extended professional care.

Our Vision
The Nahal Way began within the Nahal Brigade, with the goal of expanding nationally. Through pilot programs, we are proving that early, unit-based intervention can become the standard for supporting combat soldiers across the IDF.

Impact
Cost per participant: $1,200
Cost per full unit retreat: ~$12,000 - $18,000
100% of donations go directly to the program.
